About the Forum

Co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA) and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), this in-person 2023 edition of the “Cities and Regions for International Partnerships: Localising Global Gateway” Forum represents the continuation of “Les Assises de la Coopération Décentralisée” organised for the first time in 2009, as a quite unique space to bring together local administrators from both the EU and Africa, Asia and Latin America looking on how join forces to contribute to sustainable and participative society development.

The specific ambition of the 2023 Forum is the one of concretely contributing with a “territorial approach” to the Global Gateway agenda, using the high potential of the decentralised cooperation and partnerships.

The exchanges promoted by the Forum will be organised around four key “I”:

  • I nnovative solutions and proposals for sustainable cities and regions

  • I nclusive answers to the citizens’ participation

  • I nvestment tools and access to finance and connectivity at the local level

  • I ntermediary cities attracting youth for their future through a better education and a cultural offer

Local administrators are invited to bring their own ideas to Brussels between the 29th of November and the 1st of December to find ways and opportunities to implement them together with local partners facing similar challenges.
